He (Visoko, Bosnia, 1956) graduated in philosophy and worked as a teacher until 1992, when he fled from the Bosnian Civil War and settled in Zugliano, North-East of Italy, with his family. In 1993 he wrote The Black Holes of Sarajevo (MGS Press), published in Italy by Bottega Errante (two editions). He is one of the greatest experts of Balkan literature and is a fond connoisseur of the works of Nobel Laureate Ivo Andrić. He had his works translated into Italian, French, English, Slovenian, Albanian, Japanese and Chinese.
